Overview

Aecom is seeking an experienced Bid Manager to work remotely for the next 6 months. Location will be flexible, you must be experienced and confident in working under exceptional circumstances with internal teams as well as clients. AECOM's Major Pursuits Team (MPT) manages the company’s largest and most strategic tender submissions across both established and emerging markets. We're looking for a professional, dynamic individual to join the team for six months to lead key major pursuits through the full procurement life-cycle. This role will focus heavily on collaborative early strategy development and will require a professional, confident and experienced approach. The successful candidate will, as part of a team, deliver major pursuits by driving strategy using a consistent method; facilitating effective workshops including solutions, storyboarding and reviews; devising and running bid programmes; managing key deliverables; managing inputs from subject matter experts; and driving progress through to successful submission. The bid manager will drive the pursuit through all stages, from capture management and early strategy development, through the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) and proposal submission to interview/presentation preparation and debrief sessions. They will monitor pursuit budget and will provide consistency through the entire pursuit process, responsible for gathering lessons learned and driving continuous improvement. The bid manager will be proactive in communicating successes and lessons learned with the MPT leadership team and colleagues. They will manage the sharing of information around their pursuits, including updates to business reports, along with monitoring of their opportunities, in collaboration with End Market colleagues. They will lead by example, setting a calm, creative and organised culture and approach to pursuits through the full lifecycle, escalating risks to the bid and/or MPT leadership chain when required. Job summary: Promote a culture of collaboration and success, driving winning strategies Lead effective bid teams, identify and brief contributors from across the business and manage, motivate and support them throughout the programme Facilitate effective and dynamic workshops/planning meetings, including working with key contributors to establish a clear strategy and develop storyboard content Manage and deliver compelling, compliant submissions Oversee reviews of quality and commercial content Gather essential information from the Marketing and CAM teams. Ensure we focus, at all times, on our clients' aspirations Promote the use of AECOM’s work winning processes and tools Identify bid training requirements for team members Develop the requirements for each bid in a clear and easy-to-understand way Manage and maintain version control for bid documents and issue them to the appropriate functions for response/review/approval in line with the bid programme Instill a culture of sharing knowledge, insights and learning Identify and share lessons learned as inputs to the continuous improvement of the MPT’s process and tools Support the Head of Bid Management and Coordination to drive professionalism and efficiency in the MPT and on the pursuits on which they work Promote the development of (a) people and (b) the behaviour and culture necessary to win, including supporting junior colleagues to develop their bidding skills Train teams to prepare for client interviews and presentations Responsible for the overall quality of staff’s work and oversees projects. Plans, organizes and implements proposal bid activities for an assigned market, geographic territory or region. May supervise and oversee bid management staff. Participates in decision-making. May work independently to pursue development of bid strategy for proposals. Assists in the development of proposals and participates in presentations to potential clients. Generally has bid development and/or technical proposal writing experience, may require hands-on cost proposal development. Has project or task level financial accountability You must have demonstrable experience as a Bid Manager or have extensive experience as a Coordinator who has taken on considerable bid responsbility.
