Our client is a registered charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people. They provide the best possible care for their residents and need individuals who value the small things which are important to each of their residents. You will be based at the home in Otterbourne Hill. Our client at Otterbourne Hill supports individuals and couples facing the challenges of living with dementia day-to-day, offering reassurance, support and flexibility. The spacious site near Chandler's Ford offers three interconnected services: Otterbourne Court: A care home providing personalised nursing and dementia care, as well as planned and emergency respite support. Otterbourne Mews: Dementia-friendly apartments for couples or individuals living with dementia. Otterbourne Club: A community hub where residents and local people can enjoy a range of facilities, activities and social opportunities. The Role: You will provide person centred care and support to the residents placing their individual needs at the centre of all interactions, ensuring dignity and respect are maintained at all times. The Shifts are from 8pm to 8am and will require you to work weekends on a rota basis. As a Care Assistant – Nights, you will be involved in the following: Providing personal care to residents that are person centred and respect individual choices Acting as a Key Worker to a number of residents, using personal knowledge and experience of working with those individuals to support the nursing team in writing and reviewing care plans Providing additional care and support when a resident is unwell or towards end of life Documenting any care given and recording any changes or abnormalities in the daily notes, informing the person in charge of the shift Providing support and advice to resident’s family and friends, keeping them informed at an appropriate level with due regard to the constraints of confidentiality Encouraging residents to attend and participate in group activities Facilitating communication between the resident and other departments, i.e. the Catering Team to request a favourite meal, or the Housekeeping Team to inform of resident’s preferences in respect of laundry Liaising with other agencies as required in the interests of the resident, i.e. GP, Social Services, Occupational Therapist, etc. Identifying problems and suggesting solutions or seeking advice as required What our client are looking for in the Care Assistant – Nights: Ability to undertake QCF Level 2 in Social Care (if you do not hold the qualification already) Passionate about providing a caring, respectful, friendly, compassionate and quality service Patient, polite and courteous Able to demonstrate our client’s core values Basic literacy and numeracy skills Previous experience of working in a care environment Previous experience of working with older people Committed to ensuring that older people are respected and honoured as individuals and are cared for with dignity, respect, kindness and understanding Active listening and encouraging communication with residents What our client can offer: An hourly rate of £9.60 - £9.95 depending on qualifications.
