J0223515 Software Development Manager, York (own transport necessary) £50,000 The Development Manager will lead and drive the planning, maintenance and implementation of web applications and IT system software for an exciting business with positive growth plans and offers superb opportunities to get involved in key business projects for the future. You will play a vital part in the business at a pivotal point for their growth plans. The role therefore requires an individual with a strong background in software development management, with solid commercial development experience and experience leading and managing technical development teams. The role will incorporate a range of duties including: Managing the development cycle, coding practice and deadlines Co-ordinating the software and web development teams Providing specialist advice on all software development management issues Identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating software development requirements Working to improve IT systems and web applications and services Undertaking project management relating to the web development cycle Managing the implementation of software development projects Driving an automation agenda on development Identifying risks as well as implementing mitigating controls Managing and overseeing the current websites, file structures and related technologies Maintaining appropriate disaster recovery plans for all services and data First point of contact with third party technical teams Providing leadership that drives the motivation and productivity of the team, implementing process improvement Recruiting, training and motivating competent software engineers Line managing the engineers in the team, overseeing and evaluating the work The successful candidate will ideally be qualified to degree level in computer science or related field. Most importantly, you will be a talented and passionate Development Manager with the desire to own, manage and drive genuinely exciting projects.
