Overview
A leading insurance business, based in Leeds City Centre, is looking to appoint an Underwriter within both its new and existing business teams to support the demand from its broker panel. Our client prides itself on the training and development opportunities it creates for its staff. Anything from 'on the job’ training by some of the markets leading technicians, to structured individual programmes, including some with contributions from the industry’s top professionals. Your role will be to handle commercial insurance business, predominantly P&C with some Motor Trade, competently and within the agreed service levels. Being mid-market business, you’ll see nothing under £10k premium and anything up to (and sometimes above) £100k. You will be given a dedicated panel of brokers to manage/support and its key to build strong relationships with these to ensure the account grows. Although it’s important to know what you’re doing, so having commercial insurance experience is essential, the most important thing is that you have the right behaviours. You will need to be a 'trader’, comfortable in dealing and negotiating to find the best solution for the business. It’s often been described as 'one of the busiest teams in Leeds’, therefore you will be motived by a fast-paced environment and love having work on your to-do list. As well as these, you will be friendly and approachable to your team-mates and enjoy having a bit of banter whilst working. Our client will look at applicants from either Underwriting or Broking backgrounds.
