Overview
Our global client based in Bracknell, Berkshire require a Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years PQE to join their legal team for a minimum period of 6 months. Role: Maintaining a global viewpoint, our clients Legal Team adds value by partnering with the business to deliver high value, timely, cost efficient and customer centric advice and coaching in relation to legal affairs and corporate governance across the EU Region. The appointed Solicitor will handle a wide variety of commercial law, IT law, data protection and compliance matters on behalf of all business divisions within the organisations groups throughout Europe. This is a unique and challenging position that will require a technically excellent advisor who is able to collaborate effectively and efficiently with the business in a pragmatic and commercial way and support the smooth running of the Legal Team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this is a role with high responsibility attached that provides an excellent opportunity for the Solicitor to develop their skills and to contribute as part of a dynamic and ambitious in-house legal team. Main Responsibilities: Key areas in which regular legal advice may be needed include: Drafting, negotiating and advising on all types of commercial contract across the EU including e.g. agreements regarding supply of goods/services, IT projects, confidentiality, marketing, agency, consultancy, sponsorship, outsourcing, franchising, logistics, manufacturing, motorsports etc. Connected and driverless vehicles Consumer protection law Marketing and advertising law Compliance matters, including data protection, competition, health and safety and environmental law, regulated financial activities, anti-bribery and modern slavery. Project Work Support with legal and compliance policy development and reviews. Assist with compliance and other legal training initiatives and programmes. Proactively identify risk areas and work with the business to develop risk mitigation solutions. Management Manage the work of external legal counsel on a Pan-EU basis, where appropriate. Assist with corporate governance matters such as a yearly assessment of risk, ethics and compliance, as well as monitoring progress in these areas. Knowledge development Maintain an up to date and comprehensive knowledge of developments in relevant areas of law, disseminating the information to peers and the business accordingly. Qualifications, skills and experience required: Qualified solicitor in England and Wales. 5 years PQE - ESSENTIAL In-house exposure is essential to this role. A sound understanding of all aspects of commercial law, IT law and compliance and an ability to apply that knowledge pragmatically in a business environment. Experience of working on/managing matters with a cross border and foreign jurisdiction element and managing external legal counsel. Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills. Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities and tight deadlines, with demonstrated organisation and execution skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to appreciate diverse cultures and systems and adapt accordingly.
