Chubb Fire & Security, part of the Carrier global group of businesses, is currently recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel. The main goal of this role is to manage the Chubb UK & Ireland team coupled with providing pragmatic general legal advice and guidance to the Chubb UK and Ireland businesses. Further to this issuing guidance to internal business customers on risks related to business decisions and operations across a variety of legal disciplines What can we offer you? + 110K + 25% bonus + Company vehicle or cash allowance + Experienced, dynamic and highly skilled leadership team + 24 days holidays plus bank holidays, plus option to purchase additional days + Matched pension scheme + Free parking + Fully funded study + A central Benefits programme that offers a wide variety of discounts, soon to include Health & Wellbeing services + Bravo Awards which recognise outstanding contributions from all employees and encourage excellence What will I be doing as a Senior Legal Counsel? + Lead the employers and public liability claims for Chubb UKI to ensure that cases are dealt with in an organised and defined manner and that all cases are managed - either internally or through oversight of external counsel - to reach a resolution which is in the best commercial interests of Chubb. + Manage data privacy compliance including ensuring that the business is fully compliant with GDPR. + Provide timely and accurate reporting of reserve values and SOX reportable matters. + To deal with UK & I litigation matters in a structured manner, focusing on ensuring that all matters are handled effectively and resolved on the best possible basis consistent with the interests of the company. + Assist the UKI business in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activity including a significant focus on acquisition integration. + To drive International Trade Compliance and common processes across CCS UK & I - including focus on ITC trainings, promoting awareness of ITC requirements ensuring adherence to the screening policy. + Key relationships internally include Members of the Executive team for Chubb, Legal Counsel for Chubb EMEA, Referring Managers, Finance Team and HR Managers. External 3rd party relationships are with outsourced provider/s. External relationships feature customers, external solicitors, insurers and court appearances Further responsibilities include: + Resolve legal and compliance issues + Perform responsibilities in compliance with UTC Code of Ethics. + Lead awareness and compliance with all ITC requirements throughout Chubb UK & Ireland. + Direct and co-ordinate the employers and public liability claims for Chubb across UK/Ireland. + Provide ethics training and support activities related to preserving the legitimate business interests of Chubb and use ACE tools to reduce compliance escapes and compliance losses. + Be visible and vocal with employees consistently and comprehensively on the importance of ITC and ethics. + Support the development and execution of a sustainable Enterprise Risk Management programme that accurately measures the business unit's compliance risks, effectively deploys risk mitigation plans, and tracks implementation. Identify and recognize exceptional ethical behaviour by employees. To be successful in this role you will: + Possession of a relevant legal qualification. + Experience within a similar litigation role in-house or in private practice but with a desire to take on a more generalist in-house role. + Whilst a background in International Trade Compliance would be advantageous training in ITC will be provided. + Confident, articulate communicator at all levels with excellent presentation skills. + A strong and persuasive negotiator. + Good time management skills. + Must be able to demonstrate acute attention to detail and take ownership for their work. + Proactive approach to improving systems and processes, results driven. + Logical approach to problem solving.
