Overview

Due to expansion and development within their growing organization, our manufacturing, engineering and construction sector client based in Reading is seeking to recruit a Buyer into their team. Main responsibilities Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager and Purchasing Assistant to share out the purchasing enquiries. Promptly multisource for price and availability, collate information and seek approval from Supply Chain Manager before placing orders over 10k. Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications. Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance. Use Sage/Newforma to issue orders and record any price revisions or agreed changes. Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues and record relevant data in Sage. Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation. Check off supplier invoices and clarify all discrepancies to ensure prompt supplier payment. Complete Purchasing reports as requested and update internal pricing spreadsheets. Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities. Keep CMs informed so they do not need to chase up, use initiative to help support CMs and deal with queries in the timely manner. Conduct research for new components and suppliers. Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations. Adhere to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors. Ensure compliance to company policies, guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures including planning your time, responding to emails and phone calls promptly, submitting timesheets, attending staff meetings and team meetings.
