Line Up Aviation are recruiting for a Global Logistic Manager in the Supply Chain Department of this Aviation Company based in Aberdeen. OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE: To lead and take responsibility for the management of Global Logistics activities managing and coordinating the movement of all inbound and outbound freight by air, road and sea in support of Global business operations. Responsibilities: Management of global distribution network . Monitor and review the performance of Logistics provider, freight forwarders, couriers and transport providers Meet, monthly and quarterly with our appointed Logistics provider Review options where necessary for using other freight forwarder, courier and transport provider; Manage freight spend and continuously explore opportunities to reduce costs Establish and manage KPIs to measure and direct performance, to manage weight, volume VFM and to seek efficiencies Ensure all freight is moved by the most appropriate means to satisfy the priority whilst ensuring VFM Manage Distribution staff Direct and provide support to team members to meet and exceed operational objectives Ensure Distribution Team receive appropriate training to achieve optimum performance Monitor staff performance Ensure staff fully meet legislative requirements Maintain appropriate staffing levels Recruit as required Manage holidays and absence Communication Effective written and verbal communication with internal customers and external service providers, worldwide. Act as the point of contact for internal departments, service providers and Customs & Excise Engage with and report effectively to the Supply Chain Management Record keeping Ensuring accurate data is recorded in accordance with departmental procedures and legal responsibilities Import/Export control Manage import/export transactions Represent the company in dealing with HMRC regarding duty and tax relief schemes Keep up to date with Import/Export legislation Import/Export compliance Ensure we comply with licensing requirements of the countries in which we operate Financial Assume first stage authorisation authority for invoice approval Monitor and report on freight spend Reduce costs Daily financial decision making to ensure best value and service PERSON SPECIFICATION: (minimum education requirements, key skills and experience) Experience A strong Freight Forwarding/ Logistics/Supply Chain background Proven experience of international air, sea and road freight Previous Line Management / Supervisory experience is essential Proven experience in writing, maintaining and updating company procedures Skills Confident in the use of: Computer based ERP systems Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Safety conscious Ability to lead and motivate a Global Distribution Team in a dynamic and challenging environment Good managerial skills Proactive and enthusiastic Able to demonstrate the ability to identify risk and deal with issues in an effective manner, and to be capable of dealing with critical issues that occur. A good communicator with the ability to articulate, summarize, and present information clearly to audiences with different backgrounds and at different levels of the organisation Analytical and numerical, with ability to analyse large sets of and complex data and make recommendations to management based on the analysis. Ability to make sound decisions which are in line with departmental and organisational goals. Highly collaborative, able to work as part of a wider team and actively involves colleagues across the business Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality. Ability to interface well with leadership, management and internal and external clients. Ability to assigns tasks and responsibilities to others in a fair and consistent manner; provides clear instruction and direction. Problem analysis and problem solving ability is required to ensure solutions are determined.
