Global Data Privacy Lawyer

Fry and Brown ,
London, Greater London

Overview

The data privacy team of a large consultancy is currently looking to hire an experienced DP lawyer to support a growing global business line. This is a new role which will require you to work across borders, to support the innovative and strategic professionals delivering solutions around the world, primarily in emerging market countries. As the first dedicated lawyer, you will be supported by audit teams and the broader legal and risk teams. The role will be a generalist DP position dealing with all issues that arise. You will be tasked with implementing a DP programme in each location, mainly based on GDPR, and will utilise local expertise across the locations. You need to be aware of both local laws and culture, and be comfortable, able to work with virtual teams. You will deal with complex questions from the business, liaise and build relationships with the authorities and be consistently looking at the legal risk. You will be required to assess the full remit from the outset and it is envisaged that you may need to hire a dedicated resource. You will be part of a company wide team and will be expected to be involved in other projects across the global DP Group. This will be a largely office based role although some travel will be required, likely to average once a quarter. We are looking for someone with in-house cross border DP experience who is prepared to be hands on in running and operating data privacy programmes. You should be confident in sometimes dealing with a regulatory resistant business and have the dynamic personality required to work well across different cultures. Ideal applicants will have around 5-10 years' post qualified experience. Ref: 10114
