SENIOR RESOURCE GEOLOGIST - Woodsmith Mine site, near Whitby Are you an Senior Resource Geologist looking for your next opportunity? CSG Talent is partnered with Sirius Minerals as they look for a Senior Resource Geologist to work within their Project Development team. Sirius Minerals is constructing a state-of-the-art underground mine to enable the extraction of Polyhalite - a unique multi-nutrient fertilizer - along with the necessary infrastructure both above and below ground that will be required for transport, processing and distribution. This exciting and innovative project is entering the next phase of development having recently been bought by Anglo American, a move which secures its future. The project has created a vast amount of jobs in the region and they are looking to recruit for a range of positions as the project moves forward. Reporting to the Operational Readiness Manager, you'll develop and maintain the mine geological model, develop and implement geological processes and procedures, establish a geological database and manage the transition of the geology department from a development project into an operational mine. What does this role involve? · Develop and manage the mineral resource model and associated geological database using up to date geological modelling packages and techniques · Provide updates into the shaft sinking and tunnelling development work and work alongside mining and geotechnical engineers to support the development of the mine · Assist geotechnical engineers with developing mine structural geology models for the shafts and tunnels during development and the orebody during operations · Develop and implement mine geological practices and procedures and assist with the transition of the geology department from a development project into an operational mine · Develop requirements for ongoing drilling, geological modelling, grade control and reconciliation and reporting processes as required · Generate Mineral Resource models for internal and external reporting · Assist mine planning with development and optimisation of grade estimation parameters and resource optimisation processes · Provide resource and reserve technical assistance to mining engineering and mine geology · Plan and manage programmes for developing improved orebody knowledge using surface and underground exploration and infill drilling programmes and other geophysical techniques · Manage the assay and sample QA/QC process for exploration drill-hole and soils data · Supervise, mentor and develop junior geologists and geotechnical engineers involved in the project · Assist with identifying appropriate software and technical solutions to enhance the geological modelling process · Facilitate the sharing of geological knowledge with the wider project and operational teams Skills and experience BSc Degree in geology or a similar discipline (MSc preferred) Member of a recognised professional organisation (CGeol, MAusIMM, PGeo or equivalent) with experience in exploration and operations, including significant experience of resource modelling Status as a Qualified Person Knowledge and experience in resource reporting, including preparing and updating mineral resource reports and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and operational requirements Strong 3-dimensional interpretation and geostatistical modelling skills, in particular, the 3D modelling and resource calculation aspects A hands-on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritise workload to meet project needs Flexible, adaptable and collaborative Strong written and oral communication skills Enthusiasm in the working environment and a "can do" approach in all endeavours Desire to learn and be mentored Locations You will be expected to work across the following locations: Resolution House office, Scarborough Wilton site, near Redcar Lockwood Beck site, near Guisborough Woodsmith Mine site, near Whitby A full UK driving licence is required for this role as well as also sharing Sirius Minerals' values and determination to reach the company's goals quickly, efficiently and with the highest safety standards.
