Housing Advice and Homelessness Officer Agency Reference: 6950160 A local authority in Cambridgeshire is looking to recruit a Housing Advice and Homelessness Officer to join their busy team. This vacancy is for a temporary 3 month ongoing contract. Hours: 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday Duration: 3 months ongoing Location: Cambridgeshire Main responsibilities in the role: Providing advice and assistance on homelessness and prevention Managing a caseload of housing advice cases Investigating homelessness applications and making recommendations Signposting to external agencies including, the Police, Social Services and Community Health Officers where required Referring young people threatened with homelessness to appropriate housing projects Helping clients to explore the housing options available to them Placing homeless households into appropriate temporary accommodation and monitoring the availability of vacancies in hostels and leasehold properties Additional requirements: A full driving license with access to a car for work purposes An Enhanced DBS check from within the last 3 years or willingness to obtain Experience of carrying out enquiries and making section 184 decisions Ability to start on short notice
