POSITION: Timber Frame Structural DesignEngineer SALARY: Depending on level of experience. New entrants to the industry could expect to earn £22,000-£28,000 PA BENEFITS: Company Pension HOURS: 8.30 to 17.30 with one-hour lunch LOCATION: Surrey, GU1 4LL Our client is a privately-owned company, incorporated in February 2002 in response to the demand for specialist timber engineering solutions, primarily for the growing timber frame market. The company work with manufacturers and developers in this niche market across the UK, on projects within the residential, commercial, leisure and healthcare sectors. Projects include unique developments for private clients to large contracts for some of the country’s biggest developers. The company’s work extends to all of Britain, Ireland, the Channel Islands and Europe. The company has a fantastic opportunity for a degree-qualified design engineer to join an expanding consultancy specialising in Timber Frame Design and Engineering. The Timber Frame industry is growing year on year throughout the UK and is one of the fastest growing sectors of the industry with huge future potential. The company is not looking for specialists in Timber Frame but in structures.The position is available straight away. JOB ROLE (not limited to): You will interpret architectural drawings and produce involved calculations, within the company’s format guidelines. Full training will be offered and you will be working on a one to one basis with senior members of the team. The role involves team spirit, inventiveness and the candidate must be enthusiastic, flexible in his/her approach to work. You should also be willing to learn and grow with the company and to take on further responsibilities THE IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will be able to think outside the box and resolve problems with innovative solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and motivated candidate with excellent communication skills, who enjoys challenges. You will have at least a BEng (2.1) and preferably a Master’s degree with some experience in structural or civil engineering, leading to the ability to visualise buildings in 3 dimensions. The company is seeking an intelligent, logical and creative thinker, who is looking to put their university training and experiences into practice. You will be a proficient multi-tasker and adhere to deadlines. Experience of AutoCAD is required. Live within a commutable distance and have the right to work in the UK.
