Project Engineer – Traction Power £400/day - £500/day rate neg DOE 6 months initially Based in London Our client is a well-established Rail contractor who is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join this experienced team based in London. This Tier 1 Rail contractor wins work on high profile projects and has a healthy order book which includes this new project starting shortly. Reporting to the Engineering Manager / Project Manager you will be responsible for undertaking Traction Power engineering duties both on site and in the office as directed, including managing site installers. You will need: Essential: Proven experience of traction power installation, testing and commissioning. Experience in technical approvals of ETE designs, including IDC/IDR review process Experience of working to relevant to construction standards and tolerances. Experience of traction powers systems and installation standards Desirable candidate to have experience of London Underground and Network Rail AC & DC Traction Power Systems. Good knowledge of other rail disciplines and their interfaces, including DLR conductor rail installation. IT literate Flexible/proactive – can do attitude who shows initiative to support others Educated to a degree level or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering or relevant subject The role: Production of paperwork such as WPP, TBS, Relevant Permits, Inspection and Test Plans, risk assessments; and producing As Built and relevant assurance documentation. Management of traction power installation, testing and commissioning Relevant experience in both DC and AC traction power systems, including knowledge of Networks Rails process for managing DCCR competence / installation works Working directly with the construction manager to plan and resource the works accordingly, including review and updating project programmes. Reviewing design documentation in line with all relevant company and client standards, undertaking constructability and value engineering reviews. This includes writing Technical queries as required. Ensuring that all installation works are undertaken with approved for construction designs or relevant permission to commence construction in place. Ensuring that best practice is maintained throughout. This will include the management of a small engineering team.
