Independent Board Director who either has experience in either Strategic Asset Management, an interest in Housing and Community Development Issues or Delivery of Change in Public Sector is required for a highly successful and innovative Housing Organisation based in Poole, Dorset, South West England. Suitable applicants will also have a genuine interest and commitment to the provision of social housing services and the building of communities. SALARY: Voluntary Basis – Out of Pocket Expenses Reimbursed LOCATION: Poole, Dorset, South West England JOB TYPE: Voluntary This position will require attendance at six evening meetings plus up to two training days per year. Preparatory reading will be required before meetings. JOB OVERVIEW The organisation is one of the highest performing social housing landlords in the County and now seek an Independent Board Director to help drive the organisation forward. As the Independent Board Director, you will either have experience in Strategic Asset Management, an interest in Housing and Community Development Issues or Delivery of Change in Public Sector. As the Independent Board Director, you will act in the capacity of a Director under the Companies Act and will determine the strategic direction and policy, directing the affairs of the Organisation, sharing responsibility for Board decisions and acting in the interests of the Organisation as a whole. The Board aims to provide effective leadership of the Organisation and always acts in its best interest. The role of the Board is to determine strategy and direction, control, scrutinise and evaluate the Organisation’s affairs. The Board also sets the core Company values and objectives of the Organisation. The position will require attendance at six evening meetings plus up to two training days per year. Preparatory reading will be required before meetings. The position is on a voluntary basis, however, out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. RESPONSIBILITIES Your responsibilities as the Independent Board Director: • Ensure the views and interests of stakeholders are represented and considered at a strategic level in the business • Accountable for the direction and control of the Organisation • Set the vision and values and ensure these are represented in the Business Plan, strategies and policies • Work in partnership with other Board Members to contribute as best they can, using good judgement and based on experience, expertise and insight, to add value to strategy and policy, to ensure financial viability, delivery of business objectives and customer service excellence • Work with the Senior Management Team to enable the smooth transition of strategy to operational achievement CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS • Held a senior level position • Experience in either Strategic Asset Management, an interest in Housing and Community Development Issues or Delivery of Change in Public Sector • Keep well informed and undertake appropriate background reading • Uphold the values and objectives of the Organisation and its core policies • A genuine interest and commitment to the provision of social housing services and the building of communities HOW TO APPLY To be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
