The role of a Head of PMO with Thales UK is to provide the required business information to support delivery of projects at all levels and ensure contractual compliance. The role provides the leadership for the PMO service and covers all aspects of Planning, Project Controls and reporting, including strategy, improvement and tools. This role sits within a large Radio Systems maintenance project for London Underground, it will require Project Controls experience to be applied to operating and maintaining legacy telecoms systems and Tetra digital radio systems as well as Network & whole-life service management Key Responsibilities and Tasks: This role is responsible for the direct management of a PMO team, ensuring consistency of strategy and operations on all programmes. The size of the team is circa 6 people. All planning and project controls staff will report in to the Senior Project Controller to support project delivery. The Head of PMO will also directly interface with the Customer and ensure the various PMO artefacts submitted are of a high standard and contractually compliant. The main operational responsibilities for the PCM are to: Ensure the formal Project Schedule, Cost Performance deliverables and KPIs are delivered on-time and to a high quality, in line with the project lifecycle. Ensure through liaison with the Contracts & Legal Team and delivery functions that commercial protection is provided to Thales in both upward (Customer) and downward (Subcontractor) directions. Manage the collation of the monthly ETC forecasts and annual BUE requirements, ensuring consistency and validity across the estimates Ensure processes and tools are fit-for-purpose for all areas of PMO Ensure compliance with Thales processes and governance Work with Finance to ensure Project Controls are fully aligned with Finance, working off one set of source data. Ensure strong adherence to Project Risk and Opportunity Management requirements. Be accountable for the line management and functional management (including development planning) of the PMO resources Be responsible for the line management of all direct reports Lead on resource planning for the PMO including forecasting the resource demand, training, onboarding / off-boarding, succession planning etc. Experience and Qualifications: Experience in a range of delivery lifecycles – waterfall, iterative, Agile, Hybrid etc Proven track record in PMO management on large and complex projects Strong influencing/negotiation skills Experience working in a technical/engineering/manufacturing environment Proven understanding with regard to project governance, risk, and planning (Primavera). Effective communication skills to all levels of the business A thorough understanding of bid and project management lifecycle and governance. High level of PC literacy with Microsoft products, in particular excellent Microsoft Excel / Project / PowerPoint skills In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
