Overview

Our client, based in Cardiff , is currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works on a two year fixed term contract. The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis. The salary is negotiable based on experience for this position. The successful candidate must have the ability to read and understand Construction drawings, Bill of Quantities and Specifications. Duties will include (but not limited to): Delivering an extensive multi million pound programme of new build and refurbishment work to a University Campus Monitoring & supervising Contractors on projects to ensure that all works are in full compliance with issued specification, drawings and other contract documents Carrying out site surveys and provide the necessary written reports Undertaking site visits to co-ordinate the installation work with other disciplines Ensuring that all above items comply with codes of practice, health and safety and statutory requirements Providing the Project Manager / Project Engineer with weekly progress reports including Health & Safety, weather conditions, quality of work and indicating any concerns over standards in workmanship and possible delays Assisting in the valuation of materials and works carried out 'on-site’ Skills, knowledge and expertise required: Understanding of construction drawings Understanding of the Bill of Quanitities Rewards and Benefits: 37 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays 35 hour week Excellent sickness provision - 28 weeks full pay, 24 weeks half pay Eligibility to join the USS Pension Scheme (employee contribution - 9.6%, employer contribution - 21.10%) 3 x Life Assurance included in pension plan Enhanced Maternity pay (18 weeks at full pay 8 weeks at half pay) On campus nursery Flexible work options including condensed work week, job-sharing and part time opportunities Relocation package - To qualify for the reimbursement of relocation expenses, appointees must be moving their permanent home of residence to within 45 miles travelling distance of the appropriate Cardiff University site.
