Overview
We are looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer / Senior Industrial Design Engineer with expertise in the development of medical and healthcare devices, to join one of the UK's leading product development companies. Working on numerous projects simultaneously, you will input at varying levels within multi-disciplinary product R&D teams. As a Senior Product Designer, you will focus primarily on the development of next generation medical and healthcare devices for major name external clients. This will involve constantly innovating, providing value-adding design solutions for demanding clients, creating new products that make the most of technology and maximise your own personal impact. You must be eager to develop your skill set and be prepared to get involved in a broad range of activities covering the whole product development cycle from selling ideas through to detailed design, prototyping, testing and implementation. Requirements: An excellent degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related discipline such as Mechanical Engineering. A high level of practical design experience with significant and proven technical skills A portfolio showing the significant impact you have made on the development of new products from concept to production Good knowledge of the entire product design process including usability, ergonomics, mechanical engineering and physical principles Excellent problem solving and creative design skills Familiarity with user-centred design methodologies and knowledge of Human Factors research techniques Track record of exciting products brought to the market and be able to demonstrate your visual flair and communication skills. Significant experience in Photoshop/Illustrator, sketches and a 3D rendering/animation package is required. Experience with 3D CAD including design for polymer / plastic injection moulding would be preferred. A bright, enthusiastic team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
