Overview

A 6 months opportunity for an IT Infrastructure Engineer has arisen with local authorities in Badminton, Yate. We need someone who has all the relevant experience and can hit the ground rolling to support the ICT function at the Council and start as soon as possible. Acting as technical lead for implementation of complex projects or major hardware and systems upgrades, including liaison with business users and other areas of ICT, contributing to production of design documents and implementation plans. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast moving and challenging environment in order to deliver project work and business as usual incidents and problems resolution. Essential criteria: Ensure that the underlying ICT network, hardware and data storage systems that the council's ICT services are installed on are managed and maintained effectively as well as proactively and intrusively monitored and that any performance issues are dealt with promptly and ideally before users become aware of them. Skills and Experience: Carry out cost/benefit analysis of current versus re-engineering process as well as introduce cost effective solutions which maintain or enhance security. Carry out market research leading to liaising with vendors and organising proof of concept solutions where appropriate to demonstrate effectiveness of solution. Communications and Services denotes the area covering technologies such as Network, Telephony, Wireless, Routers, switches, firewall Security and associated services such as Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) that are required for all systems to function and communicate properly. Take accountability for audit reports which fall within their workstream and provide input into architectural decisions and designs. Vendor security or technical related qualifications, Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare etc. Hours of work are 9am till 5pm, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
