Overview

Manpower UK are currently recruiting on behalf of our client who have recently moved to a fantastic new office in Edinburgh for a Technical Writer to join their team. Our client has a small but experienced team with diverse backgrounds in the defense/security, analytics, and cloud computing space and looking to expand our team in the Edinburgh area. You will be an additional resource to support the documentation of our products such that they are understandable to our technical teams and users. Main Duties:- Creating and delivering high-quality documentation in the appropriate format for the audience Maintaining and updating the existing documentation and knowledgebases Assisting other team members with the creation of written materials Editorial reviewing of written materials created by other team members Collating written materials from multiple sources into final deliverables Working with program managers to define documentation requirements Supporting the management team through the creation and reviewing of corporate-level materials such as strategy documents, press releases, and process documents Supporting the Marketing/Sales teams with technical input to corporate branding, literature, and web site design Working with the Marketing/Sales teams to define and implement the company-wide Content Strategy Reviewing, evaluating, and implementing new technologies relating to the creation and delivery of documentation and training materials Supporting the creation of training materials Measurement of Performance Delivery against project plans Quality of implementation Conformance to internal standards Customer satisfaction (where customers are both internal and external) Core Skill Set Must A good degree in a relevant numerate, scientific, or engineering subject Proven experience in one or more roles that have involved the creation and delivery of technical and user documentation across multiple projects Excellent written and oral communication skills The ability to translate technical information into plain English A good knowledge of using Microsoft Office and a DTP or single sourcing package such as MadCap Flare, Adobe Framemaker or similar Strong skills in proof-reading, technical editing, and copywriting A willingness and ability to grasp new technologies and products, and to quickly and accurately assimilate information The ability to work to tight timescales A sensitive approach to working on internal documents that contain confidential or commercially-sensitive information Ideally candidates would have the following:- Experience in telecoms or signal processing Experience of creating training materials using PowerPoint or similar Experience of delivering training in a customer environment Strong interest in single sourcing and content management methodologies Should you feel you have the relevant experience to fulfil this opportunity, please forward your CV in the first instance.
