Overview
We are the recruitment partner to The Growth Company for Seasonal Staff on the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme Summer 2020 ? ? Support Worker - Manchester SEASONAL SUMMER WORK FOR 3 or 4 WEEKS (multiple dates available to work)? Salary up to £1940.40 dependant on length of programme? The purpose of this role is to assist a young person with additional support needs through our summer youth & community programme. NCS (National Citizen Service) is a government-backed initiative with a mission to equip 15-17 year olds with the confidence, skills and support they need to make a real difference in their communities. We strive for the NCS programme to be as inclusive as possible, providing additional support and resources to improve accessibility for young people with SEND, behavioural, emotional and/or physical needs. Support Workers are ‘matched’ to a young person with additional needs throughout their entire NCS journey, assisting and motivating them to participate to their full potential and get the most out of the programme. Depending on the Support Worker’s experience and skills, they will be providing assistance for learning & engagement SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), mental health, physical disabilities, behavioural support and/or personal care. Key Responsibilities: Provide dedicated support for young people with complex additional needs participating in NCS, overseeing their health, safety and wellbeing at all times and supporting their engagement in the programme. Prior to NCS, attend additional meeting(s) as required with the young person(s) and their parent/guardian to support building an effective working relationship Complete and maintain the young person’s additional support documentation as required, prior to and throughout NCS. Quickly build a positive rapport with the young person, and support them throughout the programme (this could include personal organisation, person hygiene & toileting, administering medication and moving & handling of young people depending on your skills and experience)
