JAVA SQUAD LEAD Senior Java Developer / Lead Software Developer / Lead Software Engineer Our client is a mid-size, though global, logistics organisation who are looking to bring in talented Java Specialists who are ready to take the next step in their career development to now take ownership of a small development team whilst also still keeping their hand in with the code. Our client is an IT tech driven organisation with a relaxed though 'work hard, play hard' type culture who cultivate & enhance their employees skills through internal & external training. The role of a Java Squad Lead is to fulfil the role of a Senior Java Developer - take a lead from a coding perspective, demonstrate a strong level of competence within SCRUM meetings / retrospectives as well in mob programming as well as demonstrating regularly the core values of the business but also taking on hiring, management, coaching and leadership responsibilities. The typical Squad Lead would spend 75% of their time focused on coding (Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate) and 25% would be spent inspiring & coaching more Junior Developers through 1-2-1s, PDPs etc. Our client follows closely Agile practices so the Java Squad Lead must believe that this is the correct way to produce code. The processes followed are a mixture of SCRUM, Pair Programming & Extreme Programming. The Developers also follow TDD, BDD processes so any experience of this or at a bare minimum Unit Testing (JUnit) would be preferred. In respects to the divisions; we are currently recruiting across: Internal systems team - full stack development working with Java 8, Spring, Javascript (VueJS); for those who enjoy taking legacy code and replacing it with fresh, new tech. Big Data team - Back-end development with Java 8, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Cassandra; for those who find messaging systems interesting with a passion around big data. Digial team - Full-stack development which is API heavy following Java 8, Java 9, Spring, Spring Boot - for those who are passionate about producing web services & transforming customer experience.
