Field Support Engineer Mission Planner
Overview
The Opportunity MBDA is a world leader in missile and weapon systems and a unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual with specialist skills and knowledge as a Mission Planning Field Support Engineer. Mission Planning is used to generate plans, routes and detailed instructions for a complex missile system, therefore your technical knowledge and experience will be exploited to the full when providing the highest quality of support. What are we looking for? Software and hardware IT skills The ability to identify, understand and communicate to relevant stakeholders emerging problems and to proactively recommend solutions to address the technical and strategic issues Prior knowledge of Mission Planning Systems or similar applications and their use by military organisations is desirable A demonstrable ability to respond to customer queries accurately and in a timely manner Good written and verbal communication as you will be working with and supporting foreign nationals where English is their second language As well as supporting the Mission Planning team in the UK, you will be supporting an overseas customer and as such, you will be required to be flexible and responsive to changing customer needs. The capability to work autonomously as required You will need to display a willingness to work directly to and to establish relationships with Middle East customers You will require the proven ability to cope with both the detailed work and the strategic product and contract requirements Given the importance of the work we are looking for a high drive and determination to achieve and a proven ability to work with a broad range of team members The willingness to assist, if required, with delivery, installation, acceptance testing and handover of Mission Planning computing equipment and software to the customer Strong interpersonal skills for customer and industrial partners’ interaction, a strong resilience and a good communicator Willingness to undertake overseas deployments including extended periods of overseas stay What is in it for you? The Role The role will be based mainly at MBDA Filton as part of the team that is tasked with supporting Mission Planning and training of customer personnel however, should the circumstances arise then deployment to an overseas customer location would be expected The role will require liaison with various communities both domestic and foreign thus offering plenty of variety. Participation in Training Working Groups and Technology Development Workshops offer exciting opportunities to diversify the training methods and affect department improvements. There will be job variety including the potential requirement to provide a mix of Formal and On the Job Training (OJT) to customer Mission Planners, who will have received their initial formal training in the UK. Be sensitive and appropriately responsive to the UK and Export customer’s local culture, behaviour and requirements in technical queries whilst keeping up to date in relevant technical areas.
