HR Customer Services Manager - £23.47ph plus Hol Pay - Central London Start ASAP to the end of October 2020 We are recruiting for an experienced HR Customer Services Manager to join one of London's leading Universities. If you have previous experience gained within a Higher Education institute , we'd love to hear from you MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB Meet with Programme Directors to investigate and resolve a wide range of complaints. Ensure that as issues are being resolved, all stakeholders are kept up to date with progress. Quickly build credibility with Programme Directors to be able to advise and influence senior academic staff. Ensure that line managers understand the legal compliance issues around recruiting new members of staff including contractors, short term workers and agency staff. Driving a high performance, customer focussed approach to HR Service delivery to maximise and improve team performance. Answer more complex queries in the HR Mailbox as required. All processes and transactions delivered by the team are compliant with all legislative requirements. Working in partnership with the department’s HR team and central HR teams when required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTCOMES Ensure offers of employment are promptly followed up with an appropriate contract of employment, and all pre-employment checks are completed within agreed timescales. Ensure all HR data for new starters is entered accurately onto all relevant systems within required timescales on all relevant systems. Work with other HR Teams and HR contacts to ensure a 'joined-up’ employment service with clear accountability and exceptional customer service throughout. Proactively measure, report and improve team performance in line with Service Level agreements via HR systems and reporting. Work collaboratively and proactively with colleagues to regularly identify and improve the customer and employee experience. Drive a customer focus and high-performance culture to ensure engagement with customers and stakeholders is positive and deliver the best solution. Create, maintain and monitor all standard operating procedures to ensure up to date, compliant and used for training and consistency of approach. Participate in other projects to help drive the HR strategy, system improvements and process reviews. PERSON SPECIFICATION Thorough understanding of UK employment legislation, particularly about right to work checks, different visa requirements and other employment checks before a candidate starts. Extensive experience with setting up workers on different types of contracts - e.g. contracts of employment, casual contracts, engaging contractors, agency temps etc…Knowing and being able to advise on which contract is suitable for each situation. Ideally worked at a large university before, or in a large and complex organisation with difficult and unhappy customers. Experience of resolving a high number of complex employment issues in a sensitive, proactive way. Being tenacious in ensuring that every issue is resolved through to completion. Excellent at developing systems to keep track of issues and report on progress. Takes ownership of issues to see them through to the end. Effective communicator, able to keep all stakeholders updated as issues are resolved - even if there has been no change. Able to work well with other team members to find out how we can work together to resolve issues. Understands when meeting face to face is important and when an email will suffice. Excellent organisational skills- able to put together robust processes and ensure that these are disseminated across an organisation.
