Overview

Capita have a contract working on the Transport for London transformation programme. This is a 3 month contract for a Solution Architect based in Birmingham, Fort Dunlop. The Solution Architect works to build a holistic view of the business processes, data, technology used and how it will be utilised to deliver the changes to the organisation. The Solution Architect uses this knowledge of the organisation to help ensure that the business and IT are aligned in respect to the direction to be taken around changes to business and technology processes. Using multiple architectural models Solution Architect is able to deliver an overall solution that supports the most efficient and effective application and target operating models that meets the organisation's business needs. This role is specifically related to defining, owning and managing a number of client and internal changes to the current solution architecture and service. Working with the business analysts, local architecture team and suppliers this role will have a key role in ensuring that the changes are scoped, defined and designed within the organisation and how they will be delivered into the estate. Key Responsibilities To be responsible for the ownership and definition of the business and technical architecture for the change portfolio To understand the direction of the business, its imperatives, its future challenges and how these may be supported by appropriate IT architecture and principles. Understand the current or "as is" state of the IT architecture and the path required to move this to the future "to be" state recognising that this target will constantly be moving away. Determining the approach to the change solutions including the appropriate architectural framework(s), method(s), model(s), policies, standards and principles that will be used Support the senior management of the account in understanding the risks, dependencies and issues that exist with respect to current and future state architectures and the impact that these may have on the solution options and how they can be delivered. To understand the vision for the business as a whole and drive programmes of work and be able to provide overall direction and accountability for them. Supports the project and change managers in understanding the risks, dependencies and issues that exist and the impact that these may have on the solution or project Promote co-operation and facilitate coordination of all technical and non-technical streams within a project to achieve the successful delivery of an integrated solution. Be an active team member of the wider Solutions & Assurance team and support colleagues through collaborative transparent peer reviews, audits, standards compliance checks and due diligence as required. Key Attributes A high calibre architect capable of providing comprehensive solutions to complex business changes operating within both the business and technology domains. Understands complex business problems and commercial frameworks and how to apply a logical, systematic approach to arrive at an appropriate solution. Good Communicator able to reduce complex ideas to simple terms and express these to both a non-technical and technical audience. Strong customer service focus and attention to detail. Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications Experience as a solution architect or in a technical leadership role with the majority of this experience being in a solution architects position in a complex environment Broad understanding of business concepts such as organisation design, change management, service management and delivery, business operations. Demonstrable ability to translate business goals, client changes and technology strategies into appropriate projects, solutions and architectures. Experience of working in large change programmes. Expert in using architectural principles and frameworks.
