About The Role & Responsibilities: The specialist hospital in Hatfield treats children and young people who are diagnosed with an eating disorder and require inpatient / residential, day-care or outpatient care. Young people and their families are offered a treatment approach that is focused on re-establishing normal life. The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a senior clinical role within the hospital. The expectation of the role is to work as a clinical expert, taking clinical accountability for the provision of safe, effective and efficient care for patients in the CAMHS Eating Disorder Service. The CNS will carry a case load of young people providing a range of specialist clinical interventions in conjunction with the formulation and treatment plans agreed by the MDT. The role will also develop to provide specialist nursing therapeutic interventions. The CNS will be accountable for ensuring the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of person centred care, without direct supervision from senior clinical staff, in line with statutory regulations and current legislation and meeting quality standards. The CNS role will work closely with the Responsible Clinician and the MDT providing a high standard of clinical care to young people on the ward. To undertake mentoring and supervision of clinical and clinical support staff without direct supervision, leading the unit clinically on a day to day basis in conjunction with the MDT and Service Lead. The CNS will professionally lead the Complex Care Team and ensure that clinical skills are enhanced, monitored and maintained. To be responsible for providing education, upskilling and best practice learning in all aspects of nursing care, relative to Eating Disorders, according to NICE, the code of the NMC and evidence based practice. The CNS role will be a key lead for practice education and facilitation across the hospital. The CNS will actively engage/collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients are fully engaged with their treatment plans, devise cohesive care and treatment plans and ensure that risks safely are managed in a least restrictive manner. Be a credible clinical expert, supporting and directing colleagues to enhance the patient's care and treatment. Requirements/Qualifications: Registered Nurse with current NMC registration, post preceptorship at least 5 years. Degree level qualification with a clear intention of advancing practitioner level post graduate qualification Evidence extensive CPD in Eating Disorders and or significant experience in clinical practice within CAMHS ED Services It would be desirable to have a post registration qualification relating to specialism applied for Eating Disorders at MSc / advance practitioner level, and a willingness to participate in a post graduate qualification programme to develop specialist skills, including INP.
