Network Engineer Fleet £45,000 - £52,000 Base Benefits Job Description: Responsible to the Technical manager for undertaking various activities associated to the administration, development and maintenance of the company’s IT and communications infrastructure. To undertake ongoing research and development of the company’s IT and communications infrastructure to ensure long-term sustainability of the company’s services. To be further responsible for all aspects of remote communication links with our customer sites. Skills Required: Active CCNA certification. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP VOIP knowledge and experience. Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools. Experience with firewall technologies and VPN. Experience with virtualisation technologies. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders. Experience working with ISO27001 standards. Additional skills that would be advantageous (Non Essential Skills): Industry recognised security certifications. Database administration skills and experience. Experience within AWS VPC. Apache and Linux configuration. No-SQL databases e.g. MongoDB. Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. Use of a project management tool such as Jira. Web protocols such as MQTT or HTTP(S). Cloud-based development through AWS or equivalent. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with the Technical manager to understand 3rd party technologies identifying the needs of our customers with respect to IT communications systems and services. Research, document and plan such requirements as they relate to the company’s IT and communications systems infrastructure identifying the company’s future IT and communications systems development goals. Design, build, maintain and document functional, secure and highly available networks across office, data centre and cloud environments. Configure and install network hardware and software ensuring all devices on a network communicate with each other as dictated by policy. Responsible for maintaining and updating IT security policies in line with emerging threats and changing working practices. Ensure all network and server infrastructure work adheres to company security policies and accreditations. Adhere to maintenance, auditing and business continuity responsibilities as outlined in the IT Schedule. Monitor Network and IT infrastructure performance across company estate. Mentor and train other members of the company in relation to computer networking and security. Work with the Technical Manager to regularly update the master project development plan ensuring that the development plan rapidly adapts to the changing priorities of our customers. Identify potential issues with the IT system, to keep relevant personnel informed as to the nature and potential impact of issues as they arise and to take necessary action to ensure the mitigation of disruption to the company’s normal business. Work with the team to ensure the IT system remains virus free and fully recoverable. Assist with the setup, configuration and maintenance of company production servers. Assist with the maintenance of production databases ensuring data confidentiality integrity and availability. Adhere to the company’s standard quality statements and procedures and, where appropriate to make suggestion to the Technical manager as to their improvement. Ensure that any documentation produced meets the standards set down by the Technical manager and that any documentation is maintained securely in paper and electronic formats Act and dress in line with Company requirements, and present yourself in a professional and courteous manner, at all times, during all internal and external customer communications and contact. Take all reasonable care, and make proper use, of all company property entrusted to you. Maintain all matters of Company confidentiality in line with the Company's confidentiality statement, also including any information relating to our customers, and our competitors. Identify training requirements or deficiencies adversely affecting your ability to achieve these requirements proposed and then discussed them with the Technical manager.
