Overview

Job Purpose: To be prepared to work in the Benefit's teams and Customer Services team. To support the Benefit team and Customer Services in the day to day running and operation. Core Tasks: 1.General clerical duties and assisting the Revenues & Benefits Section as and when required. 2.Assisting with reviewing monitoring reports 3.Other general clerical duties 4.To deal with telephone and email enquiries, responding promptly with requests. 5.To undertake training as required including relevant training courses identified by the Council and anything required by the apprenticeship training provider Benefit Teams: 1.Preparing and sending letters and other correspondence 2.Recording information relating to performance measures and statistics. 3.Liaison with other Council staff to ensure the provision of an efficient and effective benefit service. 4.Working in accordance with the Councils performance management framework 5.Processing information relating to benefit claimants from the Department of Works and Pensions and other organisations 6.Processing and entering onto the computer, benefit information relating to claims, reviews and correspondence 7.Other general clerical duties 8.Verifying & collecting information on Benefit Claims, Benefit Reviews, correspondence and inputting into the computer system 9.Accurately record information received relating to changes to benefits entitlement 10.Understanding and applying the Council's customer standards, the revenues service standards and the human rights and data protection legislation in all dealings with customers. 11.To provide excellent customer service using the principles of ownership', quality and accountability and a can do' approach 12.Undertake any other duties as appropriate and as requested by the line manager.
