Overview

My client is looking for an Engineering Manager who will have autonomy over the engineering departments across the UK functions of this global business. In this role, you will be expected to perform a wide range of tasks and lead the department to ensure support is given to the wider business. You would be working in close cooperation with our Service Excellence Team, Regional Managers, Sales Managers and Depot staff, as well as with external third party installers, Partners, Truck OEM’s and Customers. The position will be reporting to the Service Excellence Manager, will be national and will require national travel. Main tasks and responsibilities: • Managing and co-ordinating the Engineering department/ workload • Defining, measuring and report upon department KPI • Supporting and implementing the Hiab strategy • Supporting training and development upon 3D Modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), T/win drawings and Engineering/ Piece part drawings • Management and development of works instructions • Technical trouble shooting • Working with Sales team to deliver customer requirements • Pricing and cost control within department • Monitoring and complying with Standards Compliance Advisor, Regs/standards and other industry bodies/ accreditations. What you’ll need to succeed: In order to be successful at this role, you should have experience managing or supervising a team, preferably in an administrative environment. You should be confident and comfortable interfacing with other departments and stakeholders. We are also looking for a good team player, one who is self-motivated, flexible with regards to tasks performed and is able to operate with minimal supervision. Ideally you have: • Qualification to HND or degree level in Mechanical Engineering • Significant experience in Commercial Vehicle Application • Engineering principals – Essential • Lorry loader/ Crane/ HGV background – preferred, not essential • Excellent technical knowledge • Good I.T. skills, including MS Office and the SAP ERP System • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
