Overview

Part of a major international group, this organisation has recently built a new High Pressure Die Casting manufacturing facility on a 'green field site' to produce complex high value components for the automotive industry. As a Process Engineer your role will be to oversee and lead improvement activity for the die casting manufacturing operations within a brand new production facility. Production Process Engineer – High Pressure Die Casting ( HPDC ) Salary: Excellent salary and benefits package Relocation assistance available Location: Telford, Shropshire Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the role of Production Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and leading continuous improvement of the casting manufacturing process. Actively present on the shop floor, you will provide technical support on all production process related issues. This includes: o Technical leadership on die casting process and implement process improvement strategies across HPDC machines using quality metrics / data analysis to optimise machine controls and production flow. o Creation of SOPs and PFMEA documentation o Continuous improvement activities o Investigate process issues leading to casting defects and lead corrective actions o Line balancing & Value Stream Mapping o Engineering and associated process change management o Instrumental role with new product launch through design input, tooling and trails Knowledge and Education You will already have a proven track record working in a similar Process Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer or Production Engineering role within a high volume die casting manufacturing facility and some of the flowing attributes: o Die casting process knowledge, ideally high pressure casting of non ferrous material o Apprentice / HND/Degree in an Engineering related subject o Metallurgy / materials knowledge, ideally aluminium o Ideally experienced working with automated production lines incorporating robots automation and PLC/ CNC controls o In-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement methodologies and how to apply them in practice o Confident hands-on approach, problem solving and rout cause analysis. o SOP and PFMEA creation o Knowledge of route cause analysis and structured problem solving ( 8D, PPS, Fish bone) This method of manufacture is unique and further training will be provided which will involve some overseas travel.
