Overview
A specialist school for students with sensory impairment is seeking an English Teacher to join their team on a long term basis. This school provides education for pupils aged 10 to 19; who are D/deaf and/or who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). Each pupil's timetable is fixed but flexible and can be tailored to meet an individual pupil's learning and sensory needs. The pupils are supported by Teaching Assistants who act as their co-tutors, monitoring their attendance, learning and behaviour, providing the pupils, and parents, with regular updates via telephone calls, text messages and written communication. Requirements: QTS and NQT Induction completion or equivalent teacher training currently leading to full QTS and - subsequently NQT Induction (essential) At least a good first degree in a core subject (essential) Experience in working with sensory impaired students (Desirable) Knowledge of BSL, PECS, Makaton or Braille (Desirable) Further training or qualifications related to SEMH/SEN (desirable) Do you know other great teachers or support staff?
