Overview

GWP Consultants LLP is an independent consultancy partnership, located in Charlbury, Oxfordshire, originally formed in 1973, working in sustainable water and earth resources management in the UK and overseas and has the following position vacant. EXPERIENCED GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER/ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST GWP has an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering geologist or geotechnical engineer. To join our team of geologists, geotechnical and mining engineers, surveyors and hydrogeologists, the successful applicant will need 5 to 10 years of experience in the quarrying or open cast mining industries. You will need to be able to manage projects, liaise with Clients and work with and/or supervise other members of the team, organise and conduct site investigations, undertake geotechnical analysis and be very adept at producing technical reports. The successful applicant should: have a BSc, BEng (2:1 or higher) in Geology, Engineering Geology, Mining Engineering; have an MSc, MEng or PhD related to Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering or similar; be a Chartered Engineer and/or Chartered Geologist or be close to gaining Chartership; be able to demonstrate experience of both soil and rock mechanics; be proficient in the use of geotechnical analysis software and Microsoft Office. It would be advantageous if you are an experienced user of some of the following software: Rocscience suite incl. Dips, Slide, SWedge, RocFall and RS2, LSS DTM surface modelling, Holebase, Datamine, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, ShapeMetrix3D. Your role will include designing site investigations; undertaking geotechnical assessment of quarry excavations, tips and lagoon sites; undertaking the geotechnical analysis required for a Regulation 33 Geotechnical Assessment Report (Quarries Regulations 1999); undertaking geotechnical design of tips, lagoons and excavated soil and rock slopes and other matters related to technical support for the extractive and waste industries. You must be eligible to work in the UK, hold a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle. Both positions will involve office and site work ( e.g . remote working around Quarries and Tips on uneven terrain) within the UK and, on occasions, overseas.
