Head of Electronics Engineering (Luton proximity)

This is a functional technical management role directly reporting to the head of Electronics Engineering UK, with indirect line into VP Engineering (Luton). You will have accountability for delivering site Electronics Engineering for the Electronic Warfare(EW), Major Air Programmes (MAP) and Support and Solutions Services (S3) Lines of Business, by managing the delivery of technology, people, skills, tools, infrastructure and process to all projects. The role holder will be the site capability lead with ownership of Luton based electronics process improvement in these areas, ensuring alignment to the UK wide functional strategy. The key outputs are :- Luton Specific Functional Strategy (Inc. Technology/Tools Roadmap) Functional budget (including Training/Development plans, CapEx and OpEx requirements and input into the Engineering tools and infrastructure forum) Communications Plan Electronics Supply plan Support to process development and business improvement initiatives for Electronics Engineering across the UK sites Key Responsibility Areas WHAT YOU'LL DO Technical leadership for Electronics Engineering - providing technical engineering expertise for problem resolution and creating innovative solutions] Define, deliver and deploy the technology route-maps aligned to capability growth. Be responsible for Electronics Work-package definition, resourcing and execution at Luton. Be responsible for the delivery of the Engineering Tools plan for Luton ensuring a common delivery approach across the UK. Define the Model Driven Engineering (MDE) activities for Electronics Engineering to deliver integrated toolchain and process flow. Deliver a credible supply plan to deliver projects to budget and schedule, including developing outsourcing partners. Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR You really must have: Strong Technical background in one or more Electronics sub-discipline, acknowledged within the business as a technical leader. Proven people management skills with Team Lead or Functional Lead experience. Proven delivery of technology development and insertion into product. Sound knowledge of functional design and development processes across the product lifecycle. Demonstrated performance in delivery of technical work-packages. It would be nice if you had: Experience in the use and deployment of Electronics/Systems CAD tools and simulators. Practical experience of chairing stage design reviews and/or independent technical assessor for the high-level design review process. Demonstrated experience in the definition, estimation, monitoring and control of work packages using design review processes and associated milestones and KPIs. Mentoring experience (either business or technical institution) Achieved chartered status and member of relevant Professional Body.
