Graduate Data Scientist - Advanced Analytics The Role We are looking for an enthusiastic and numerically-minded Graduate Data Scientist to join our multi-award-winning business at its global headquarters in the centre of Cardiff. Data and technology take centre stage in delivering our market-leading products, and we have a large advanced analytics function that builds and deploys machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions for all business areas, including Pricing, Marketing and Claims. You will be given on the job training in a number of areas, as well as dedicated research time to expand your knowledge and skills. After an initial fully supported training period, you will have a chance to use cutting-edge techniques to solve real-life problems. You will work in a collaborative environment alongside talented Data Scientists, where no one will ever say “no” to a good idea. About You We are looking for someone inquisitive and focussed, enthusiastic about making an impact using innovative analytic methods. You must have a keen interest in machine learning or statistics and be ready to expand your skills as the field progresses. You should be comfortable in a culture where decision making is evidenced-based and reliant on rigorous analysis. You should be self-motivated and able to work individually, but also work well in a team, share best practice, and be capable of delivering to agreed timelines in a fast-paced and changing environment. Main Duties Development, evaluation, and implementation of advanced statistical and machine learning models. Creation of meaningful datasets for modelling and evaluation from a vast quantity of data in multiple formats. Remain up to date with trends and developments in technology and methods in the data science community and proactively research new skills and methods. The ability to think reasonably and question anomalies Desirable Skills and Experience Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field An interest in telling stories using data and the ability to communicate with a non-technical audience Demonstrate high attention to detail Experience using some data science tools such as R, Python, SQL, etc. Exceptional numerical ability and with a desire to solve problems using innovative and creative techniques Ability to work in a team but also manage personal workload About Admiral Our success goes hand-in-hand with having a strong culture where we put our people and customers first.
