The Role As a Software Engineer within AFSL your role will be to design, build and test cutting edge components that utilise the latest in cloud infrastructure, services and container orchestration. A successful Software Engineer in AFSL is someone who: Has a deep working knowledge of Python and AWS Is eager and curious to learn. You don't need to have prior experience in financial services, but a willingness to get stuck in and learn about our business is key Enjoys working with agile methodologies Responsibilities Take part in agile ceremonies including requirements gathering, refinement sessions, estimation, sprint planning, daily standups and retrospectives High level of initiative and responsibility with a dedication to quality and attention to detail Communicate using a variety of methods; Slack, face to face, email Join in retrospectives and post implementation reviews to make sure we are all continuously learning To align with the strategic priorities of the AFSL business – our five key capabilities Promote and embody AFSL’s core values: to be transparent, have fun, be creative, be curious and to challenge with care Your Experience Essential: Python Amazon Web Services (AWS) Git source control Agile development Containerized deployment It would be great if you also have: Golang / Java Kubernetes Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) MongoDB MySQL Our Team: We’re a relatively new team and we’re growing quickly There are 22 of us in the technology team We are made up of CIO, CTO, Head of IT Systems, IT Architect, Development Lead, Software Engineers (3 levels, from Junior to Senior), Test and Release Manager, Test Analysts (3 levels, from Junior to Senior), Automation Testers, DevOps Engineers, Data Warehouse Developers and Support Analysts About Admiral We're Wales’ only FTSE 100 company.
