Industrial Process Engineer - FMCG 8.15am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday Description My client is currently recruiting for an Industrial Process Engineer within the Engineering department to join an experienced and committed team Through their actions the Industrial Process Engineer will participate in the collective departmental aim of introducing products on a timely basis, in accordance with cost, efficiency & quality objectives. By doing so you will be helping us continue our exciting journey of innovation, change and transformation. Key Responsibilities will include: Responsible for the design and operation of industrial processes which includes labour standards, process optimisation, and new product implementation. Contribute to the New Product Introduction process (NPI). Identify new products and create labour standards. Identify cost issues and communicate to ensure corrective actions take place. Based on market forecasts, undertake an annual review of labour standards for the fiscal budget, identifying changes in methods of product assembly and potential cost reductions in highly efficient codes. Examine areas where labour savings have been made in order to achieve reductions in labour costs where required. Work with Assembly and advise if they have problems with balancing their crews to a labour standard. Manipulate performance and operations data into useable formats. Requests for data can be on an ad-hoc basis or self-driven to justify potential improvements. Data will typically show trends, areas for improvement and long-term strategic opportunities. During first production run, review efficiency and confirm labour standard. Support production as required during first production run to ensure Right First Time (RFT). Identify and implement value analysis and value engineering cost savings to a set yearly target. Undertake production studies for the Assembly area to monitor how lines run with specific machinery and identify causes of problems. Produce recommendations and sell/discuss ideas with relevant management. Undertake line Improvement and Strategic projects, as required, working within a project team or independently. Qualifications Ability to provide solutions to complex problems using various techniques, including software packages (i.e. Excel / SAP) and standard problem solving methodologies Ability to balance lines, complete time studies, analyse performance losses and calculate accurate standards of cost/crew/line speeds High level of analytical skill – ability to analyse both practical problems and large amounts of numerical data. Ability to manage and control workload both individually and for project teams Ability to operate in a high pressure environment with changing and competing priorities Ability to draft concise summary reports and brief internal correspondence Previous experience in cosmetics, toiletries or other FMCG industries would be of benefit. Detailed knowledge of company’s SAP production system, Planning and Finance. Knowledge of the products and product codes Knowledge of functions and roles within relevant departments, especially: Production, Planning, Engineering including international organisation Knowledge of the machinery used in Assembly particularly its applications and limitations. Experience of manufacturing operations in an FMCG environment Detailed knowledge of ergonomics, method study, work measurement, planning techniques, and understanding of cost accounting techniques.
