Overview

Due to growth within the Technology Services department at AJ Bell, an IT Service Manager role has now become available. Reporting into the Senior IT Service Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping to deliver a wide range of Service Improvement initiatives and ensuring the smooth running of IT Services with increased focus on supplier management. AJ Bell is a fast moving company and the Technology Services department is delivering a varied and rapid programme of change. This will be a hands on role and will require someone with technical ability as well as proven expertise in IT Service Management. In addition to experienced IT Service Managers, this could be an opportunity for an accomplished and experienced lead member of an IT team with previous experience of external stakeholder management, looking to progress into a service management position. There is potential scope for this role to include limited line management duties in line with the responsibilities below, so candidates should ideally have an interest in and experience of line management. RESPONSIBILITIES IT Supplier management, ensuring there is a framework in place to ensure appropriate engagement, and adherence to SLA, for existing solutions and new opportunities Carry out service meetings with suppliers in line with the framework, and progress actions and activities that will drive improvements Commercial management of a number of agreed suppliers, ensuring accurate input into budgeting process Management of Major Incidents and production of Major Incident Reports Problem Management and root cause analysis Steering a Change Advisory Board, risk assessment and approval of IT system changes Deputising for the Senior IT Services Manager and covering some responsibilities for the Service Desk Manager and peer IT Service Managers where required ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE IT Supplier Management experience An understanding of asset management and budgeting processes Experienced at managing Major Incidents Experience of acting within mature ITIL processes. A proven ability to implement and/or improve existing processes Evidence of commercial ability in negotiation and partnership with suppliers DESIRABLE ITIL Certification Technical IT certification Line management experience Experience of project management or suitable qualification Experience with creating formal process and service reporting documentation Financial services industry experience BEHAVIOURS AND COMPETENCIES Credible and professional Able to challenge appropriately and present solutions to problems Self-starting and able to work on own initiative A high attention to detail A great team worker Ambitious and driven to exceed expectations An analytical mind-set and technical ability Excellent verbal and written communication skills Other Information: AJ Bell is one of the UK’s largest providers of online investment platforms and stockbroker services.
