Job Title: Personal Health Care Assistant Location: Horley Hourly rate: £10.00- £12.00 Reference: LR6774 Hours/shifts: Up to 8 hours per week one day a week ideally on a Wednesday but day and time by mutual agreement Summary • I am a disabled young male with complex health needs and live with my parents in Horley. • My mother is my main carer and will be your employer • I like to be chatted to and being indoors in a safe and protected environment. • I am looking for an experienced and patient PA to carry out personal care and clinical tasks supporting my mother as my main carer. • This is a rewarding role with all professional training provided. Other Requirements • Non Smoker • Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Personal Care: Full continence care (including changing pads) Use of hoist - transfer from bed and wheelchair Following correct procedure for moving and handling Positioning properly in wheelchair and bed - postural management to avoid pain and bruising Skin integrity - putting cream on and watching for chaffing/bruising from equipment Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings Use of suction machine to clear airways Giving feed and fluids via a PEG, using a Feeding Pump Help with pain management with repositioning and/or pain relief medication Administering Medication Oral Hygiene General hair/skin care Applying creams as required Hoisting into and out of water genie Regular passive movements and stretches To watch closely for signs of need so my son is comfortable, safe and secure- supervision Possibly in the future washing and bathing/showering (water genie) - towelling dry/ drying hair Helping with other aspects of personal care as required Person specification The successful applicant will be: Non smoker Committed to providing a good standard of care Willing to adjust to changes in need throughout the day and respond to them Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality Reliable with good time-keeping Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills Honest and cheerful Creative Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
