Your new role This council are looking for a Town Planner to join their Policy team. The role encompasses a variety of day-to-day responsibilities, Including: Keeping the councils planning policies and guidance up to date by planning and leading projects. This will include researching and writing policy, leading consultation and engagement exercises; and taking those projects through to external examination where necessary. You will need to implement and deliver policies and guidance in practice, including running projects, preparing appeal statements, appearing at public inquiries and answering enquiries from a number of customers in relation to planning matters. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to carry out site visits, research, assess and make recommendations on nominations for Assets of Community Value - providing advice as necessary. What you'll need to succeed In order to be considered for the role, you will need an RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning (or equivalent), along with established experience working in Planning Policy within a local authority. Candidates are also expected to have sufficient knowledge of Town and Country planning legislation, and national, regional and local policy (including requirements for public consultation). Proven communication skills are also desirable, with the ability to present to a diverse range of internal and external audiences using a variety of media and approaches.
