Overview

Financial Controller. Our client, a small but highly successful and innovative project management and engineering consultancy The business has enjoyed significant growth in the last few years and has recently been acquired by an international group. Candidates will be willing to manage the accounts department, perform accounting functions as well as developing strategic financial reporting systems that will assist the Business Unit Manager and the Group Finance Director. You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to work proactively with initiative and accuracy and a desire to become an integral part of the senior management team. Duties providing financial information and support to the Business Unit managers; monitoring cash flows and credit control; sales invoicing, supplier invoices fee earners time records conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities; managing the company's financial and management accounting, monitoring and reporting systems; liaising with external advisors; producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines and ensuring accuracy of ledgers; Managing the accounting department and providing proactive advices and assistance; Payroll & Tax Financial Planning & Analysis Be actively involved with the annual budget preparation process Regular analysis of KPI's Analyse and explain overhead spend and variances to budget Provide analysis to forecast the performance of the business against budget in order to aid decision making. Project Accounting and Monitoring Support the Project Managers in understanding their projects Coach/train Project Managers on the Project Accounting Systems so they can effectively monitor their projects In conjunction with their Business Unit General Manager form quarterly project reviews to ensure the project performance is properly and prudently assessed Person specification Qualifications and training CIMA/ACCA/ACA, Degree or equivalent accounting qualification IT Strong IT skills, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Knowledge of Oracle preferable Organisation and Management Able to plan and deliver projects within agreed timeframes Excellent organisational skills Experience of managing people Ability to influence others A self-starter who can work on their own initiative but also be able to work effectively as part of a team.
