Overview

TRMG is one of the UKs leading publishers of show guides and magazines producing over 200 publications per year in both print and digital format.We have a very exciting vacancy for an Editorial Magazine Designer to join the Production Department. The role function is to produce editorial feature layouts, maps and other assets for TRMGs International portfolio of publications. This is an ideal opportunity for someone to take a creative role in a fast-paced publishing environment. The role has the following main functions: Act as main designer on a title, working closely with a project manager Design exciting and engaging editorial features from supplied copy Be a team player, confident in liaising with other editorial team members Have a can-do, positive attitude and not be phased by change requests Work to a clients design brief and / or brand guidelines Create editorial layout templates Produce map designs from supplied CAD drawings Carry out picture selection Quality control finished PDFs The successful candidate will have excellent Apple Mac skills including: Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and good knowledge of pre-press production including the creation of high resolution, press ready PDFs. They must have an extremely well organized approach to their work and ideally come from a design or reprographics print background. The ability to action change requests promptly, meet tight deadlines and to keep positive and calm under pressure is essential. Required Attributes: Excellent design software knowledge: Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat High attention to detail Strong portfolio, demonstrating track record of editorial magazine design Good understanding of the litho print process and pre-press Highly organised and effective communication An appreciation of typography and font management Positive approach to managing change Good standard of written English. A minimum two years previous workplace experience in a similar role is preferable and a relevant Degree, HND or other related qualification is desirable.
