Shipping Agent - Agency & Chartering Full UK driving licence is require due to the role requirements Location – Runcorn We have an excellent opportunity for a Trainee Shipping Agent to join a successful, driven and Innovative Logistics Provider working from the Cheshire office. The company provides an excellent training and development scheme that will enable you to grow and develop and become an expert in this field. The role will work closely with all areas across the business Including the Shipping and Logistics, customs entries and customer service along with the ports based across the UK. Duties and Responsibilities. o To ensure agency activities are done safely, efficiently and to the requirements of the port, where relevant. o Responsible for the accurate preparation, completion and despatch of routine vessel and cargo documentation to various parties. o Assist in local port services and husbandry requirements on behalf of Ships’ Masters, owners and crew. o Order port services with guidance/instruction from the Agency & Chartering manager. o Accurately calculate pro-forma port costs and husbandry costs. o Develop and maintain strong working relationships with ship and shore side personnel. o As and when requested travel to and work from other port locations to build up you own knowledge and experience. o Work under pressure and sometimes to strict deadlines, sometimes out of normal office hours. to support the Agency & Chartering Team in: o Bids and quotations for new business opportunities; and o The identification and delivery of agency contracts o Reports and analysis of various products, companies, projects o Plan, deliver and record all work undertaken using Group systems as directed. o Communicate effectively and promptly with colleagues, customers and suppliers. o Deliver excellent customer service. o Ensure compliance with the organisations health & safety requirements and all relevant current health & safety legislation. o Identify opportunities to increase and improve services to new and existing customers. We are looking for a team player who is interested in a shipping career, someone who is proactive, loyal, trustworthy and keen to learn. You must be able to drive as the role will involve travel to other sites when necessary.
