AWE is currently recruiting for a Dependability (Reliability, Availability & Maintainability) Specialist to join our team, providing dependability (Availability, Reliability, Maintainability and Safety) support to technically challenging projects. In the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) era, AWE relies on cutting-edge science and computational methodologies to verify the safety and effectiveness of the warhead stockpile, without conducting live testing. This role will require you to work within a rigorous assurance framework and the key responsibilities will be: Negotiation of reliability expectations with stakeholders Undertake reliability modelling and simulation Produce reliability estimations, allocations and predictions Development of tailored R&M deliverables for projects Define and develop reliability approaches across the equipment life cycle Advise on verification and validation strategies and activities Advise on manufacturing test and screening strategies and activities Deliver project elements to meet time, cost and quality requirements Candidates are expected to have: A degree qualification in engineering (or an HND in engineering supported by extensive practical experience) or technical (e.g. science) equivalent A proactive and self-motivated attitude Demonstrable ability to generate and present technical documents to a high standard Ideally, we would expect Candidates to also have experience at some of the following: Awareness of Systems Engineering principles, techniques and management tools Use of Reliability and Maintainability tools and techniques Providing dependability expertise to complex systems or projects Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques Assessing failure modes and implementing mitigations and reliability growth (FEMA) and or Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Awareness of working within a rigorous assurance framework Familiarity with relevant Defence Standards and British Standards Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
