Overview

Work alongside the multidisciplinary team at Thornford Parkas a Senior Forensic Social Worker, where you can use your experienced skill set to support people on their recovery. As an experienced registered Social Worker, you will provide support for up to 24 forensic service users under the Mental Health Act. You will take a lead role within a multidisciplinary team for child and adult safeguarding. You will undertake a comprehensive assessment of the service user's social care needs and the impact of social issues of service users' mental health and recovery. Role - Senior Forensic Social Worker Location - Thatcham, Berkshire Salary - £35,500 pro rota Hours - 37.5, Full-Time Your responsibilities: Undertaking assessments regarding current social circumstances and the impact of social issues on service users' mental health and recovery Supporting service users in developing feasible plans for the future and working towards discharge Completing reports for CPAs, Mental Health Tribunals and Managers Hearings Taking a lead role within the multi-disciplinary teams on non-medical mental capacity issues and best interest decisions Liaising with a host of external agencies to enable them to fulfill their statutory duties, for example MAPPA, Local Authority Social Services, Police and Probation Supporting carers and families of detained service users Providing supervision to junior colleagues Delivering occasional safeguarding training To be successful in this role, you'll need: Have a good working knowledge of the relevant legislation Have at least 2 years' experience of working in mental health Be able to build effective working relationships with patients, their family members, and carers Work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team Understand and champion the social perspective on mental health Where you will be working: Location : Thornford Park, Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET You will be working at Thornford Park, a 130 bedded independent hospital that supports service users that require medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. In addition to these services, there is also a PICU Mental Health Service. The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering people in their recovery and rehabilitation. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with a personality disorder and females and males in a PICU service.
