Overview

Currently supporting a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier focused on the development and production of high value, lower volume rubber/polymer-based products for a variety of industries including automotive, aerospace, medical and defence markets globally. Backed by a major rubber manufacturer, this role will play a key part in further growth of the organisation and this part of the business expecting to grow the most. The role Seeking an Applications Engineering Manager, with the overall purpose of: Overall management of the applications engineering team including both technical and administrative aspects. Provide technical contribution to all projects and lead projects as required. To work closely with sales and marketing to understand the needs of the customers and develop innovative technical solutions that meet those needs. To work closely with the quality, manufacturing and production teams to ensure that the designs and manufacturing specifications meet the needs of the wider business. To lead and manage product development projects meeting schedule, cost and quality requirements Accountabilities •On time delivery of projects meeting customer requirements and needs of all internal business stakeholders i.e. manufacturing, quality, finance. •Performance of the applications engineering team •Ensure health and safety of self and others at all times Responsibilities •Lead the development of innovative technical solutions •Design and develop new and improved products that meet the customer, business and performance requirements. •Ensure project documentation is maintained according to internal standards. •Visit customers and suppliers •Supervise collaborative work of multiple teams •Planning and executing strategies for completing projects on time •Researching and developing designs and products •Determining the need for training and development for the applications engineering team •Matching the team effort to the resource requirements of the projects and resolving resource constraints. •Continuously improve working methods to shorten time to market and improve quality •Providing sales/marketing with technical/cost information for new products •Creating technically led new product opportunities for consideration in the new product pipeline. •Managing multiple projects and changes in requirements during projects The requirements You will demonstrate/ posses experience within the following: · 10 years' professional experience in an engineered product manufacturing environment - preferably polymer related · Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science or equivalent subject · Good grasp of engineering principles, mathematics, physics and materials science · Knowledge of polymer science including organic and silicone rubber preferred · Strong management and leadership skills · Investigative mind inclined toward developing practical solutions to real world problems.
