Overview

Joining us as Curriculum Manager for Maths, you will take responsibility, as the lead for the 16-18 Maths curriculum, for ensuring the continuous improvement, development and growth of this area in line with the College’s strategic plan. You will line manage teaching staff and will be responsible for their leadership, motivation and development. You will also have responsibility for the operational management of the area, ensuring high quality provision, effective and efficient use of resources and flexible, student centred delivery. We’re looking for an individual who holds or is working towards a Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Maths and who has a full, recognised teaching qualification. With a clear vision for the improvement and development of Maths within an FE environment, you will have substantial relevant experience of teaching GCSE and Functional Skills to 16-18 learners and a track record of achieving good GCSE results, specifically high grades. Demonstrating personal qualities such as empathy, interpersonal communication skills and team work, you will be able to successfully monitor and support ‘at risk’ learners to achieve or exceed their potential. You will also be able to plan a high quality GCSE and Functional Skills programme, managing the use and production of all materials and resources to support learning. Candidates must also have experience of leading and managing GCSE and Functional Skills in post 16 education and have a track record of making sustained improvements. You will need to have a firm grasp of current and impending changes to this curriculum and have a successful record of identifying and responding to staff training and development needs. This post will be based at South Thames College. This position is permanent, full time.
