Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a professional and experienced IT support engineer to join our friendly IT team at our Preston head office. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the IT infrastructure and training MHA Moore and Smalley staff in getting the best out of our systems. This is a developmental opportunity in a top 50 award winning professional services firm with an excellent reputation for training staff in a friendly and welcoming environment. Hours: Full time (35 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 8am - 4pm) Location: Preston (with occasional travel to our other offices) Salary: Negotiable Competitive Benefits package after qualifying period (including group life assurance, private medical, Firm pension scheme, health and well-being initiatives and bespoke flexible benefits scheme) As part of this role, you will be responsible for keeping staff across the firm working effectively by responding promptly to support desk calls and upgrading hardware and software. The key responsibilities of this role will be to: • Provide first line IT support by telephone, e-mail or face to face • Prioritise, co-ordinate and allocate IT support requests • Proactively monitor and fix infrastructure problems • Manage, schedule and action software updates by agreement with the IT manager • Prioritise and schedule hardware upgrades • Confidently configure and manage Active Directory to process starters leavers and transfers • Troubleshoot advanced topic areas such as firewalls, Virtual Infrastructure, backups, and mobile devices • Monitor email security service traffic and exceptions • Set up and administer cloud storage accounts • Participate in IT training for staff • Capture new knowledge acquired on the job accurately and record it in the knowledgebase • Provide ad-hoc support to the Computer Services team • Assist with staff/office moves To succeed in this role, you will need to have a polite telephone manner, be approachable, a team player, professional and have an aptitude for learning new IT skills. You will also be a logical problem solver and have a flexible approach to your workload. To be considered for this position, applicants will need to have: • A minimum of 2 years in an IT support role • MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) or MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) and/or other relevant/equivalent technology qualifications • A good standard of education • Good knowledge of PC hardware and architecture • Familiarity with the Windows Desktop in a networked environment • The ability to build friendly and effective relationships internally across all departments • Excellent organisation skills • Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to tailor communication appropriately • The ability to identify opportunities to improve/optimise internal processes and methods • A full, clean valid UK driving licence (car not essential) Priority will be given to applicants with professional services experience, however this is not essential.
