We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse in Stem Cell Transplant at our Duchess of Devonshire Wing (Cancer Centre) in Central London, W1G 6JA. The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest independently owned non-profit hospital, and we have been providing exceptional care since 1932. We have 8 premises, where we perform highly complex procedures as well as routine surgery & medicine. Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 234 beds and 10 theatres, and The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is our award-winning cancer centre, which includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites and 47 dedicated patient bedrooms for Oncology & Haematology patients. Our Oncology Inpatients Ward comprises of 18 beds, all in separate, private en-suite rooms. We treat a range of cancers at The London Clinic including; Brain, Pancreatic, Cervical, Head & Neck, Bowel, Lung, Prostate, Bladder, Neuroendocrine, Skin, and Uterine cancer. Our stem cell transplant unit comprises 12 beds, and we treat acute leukaemia, lymphomas and other malignant haematology. We are the first private independent hospital to gain JACIE accreditation and we are also the preferred provider as a stem cell harvesting centre for the Anthony Nolan and other Registries Job Description As a Staff Nurse in Stem Cell Transplant you will work in a clinical and service development capacity to ensure the service to patients is planned, delivered and evaluated in line with current evidence. This is a full time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours a week (Monday to Friday). This position has a competitive salary ranging between £36,410 - £47,945 alongside a comprehensive benefits package including: contribution pension scheme (total annual contribution up to 17%); Private Medical Healthcare; 25 day’s annual leave; season ticket travel loan and a wide range of discounts with a variety of retailers and services. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for the delivery of high standards of care and service to the patients, and to work within a team to provide assessment and evaluation of care. Ensure that drug administration and control is in accordance with legislative requirements and the clinic regulations. Participate in the Cancer Centre triage bleep holder scheme. Develop and participate in research based practice, quality assurance and clinical and local audits. Act as a role model, with a willingness to be a mentor to junior nurses. Encourage good working relationships within the multidisciplinary team, and deputising for Sister / Charge Nurses in their absence. Must be a chemotherapy giver. Must be passionate about haematology and stem cell transplant. Skills & Experience Registered Nurse with valid NMC pin. Post registration experience within an Oncology/Haematology Unit, with experience in Stem Cell Transplantation. Knowledge and ability to administer intravenous cytotoxic drugs, and experience in the management of Central Venous Catheters. To have an up to date knowledge of current chemotherapy protocols and drugs, as well as transplant related treatments, and the haematological Accreditation Standards. Highly motivated individual who possesses strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
