Overview

The Ryes College and Community is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our Organisation consists of 4 children's homes and two schools where children with unique needs live. Our children are aged 11 - 18 and are with us for a variety of reasons but all of them need a stable base, care, support and to feel wanted. Our role is to provide strong, nurturing boundaries and to create a safe environment mixed with fun and imagination, trips to the beach, fishing, bike rides etc- basically anything that can help our children make positive childhood memories.Our children usually arrive emotionally confused with challenging behaviours but as they begin to trust and feel safe their behaviours begin to change and their confidence/ self-belief grows. The main purpose of this role is to support the children in safely managing their behaviour and supporting children in distress. You will help ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment, liaise with other staff, social workers, parents, professionals and members of the public. Provide opportunities for social integration and development of independence skills for the children plus be able to provide verbal and written records. Qualifications NVQ 3 or Level 3 Diploma in Care or equivalent qualification is desirable A full driving licence is essential This is a permanent full time role 42 hours a week, which involves shift work including weekends and bank holidays.
