Overview

White Label are proud to be partnered with a growing business in the Harrogate area who are looking to recruit a Structural Engineer. My client are going through a period of massive growth and as a result there is a requirement to bolster the team. The day to day role is to include: - • Produce structural engineering designs for the company’s products to relevant codes and standards. Substantiate designs with formal calculations for internal and external review; • Attend meetings without support and to speak about technical issues and promote the company. To be smart in appearance and conduct all affairs both inside and outside your normal place of work in a professional and efficient manner that promotes the Company and enhances its reputation; • Have good knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC standards and building physics relevant to the residential market sector to ensure technical liaison with architects, other engineers, specifiers, contractors and approved installers on all design and technical issues; • Ensure that the requirements of CDM are followed; • Ensure that the goals and objectives of the company are exceeded; • Technical liaison with Architects, Engineers, specifies, contractor and approved installers on all design and technical issues; • Provide good knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC standards and building physics relevant to the residential market sector, keeping abreast of all technical and product evolution issues. Ensure the company is able to respond to technical advancements within the industry. To facilitate this, maintain the knowledge bank structure; • Brief and work with designers to ensure that schemes are correctly interpreted; • Keep the manager informed of changing situations and progress in achieving tasks and respond promptly to requests for information both internally and externally; • Contribute towards a culture which addresses the root cause analysis of Engineering related non-conformances; • Review and interpret technical drawings. Check drawings and calculations produced by others; • Use and develop design tools in various software packages to increase efficiency; • Take a proactive approach to your personal work commitments by achieving deadlines agreed with your Line Manager. Manage your work load in an effective and diligent manner, reporting all conflicts in deadlines and activities to your Line Manager in a timely fashion; • Take responsibility for the deadlines set by both yourself and your Line Manager and demonstrate commitment to seeing works and deadlines achieved on time and in full; • Keep relevant parties in all decision making where a risk or action may be required. To ensure that adequate records are kept of all communications with external companies in accordance with company protocol; • Maintaining the satisfaction of existing clients and development of new skills and services in accordance with the company business needs. Develop customer relations and develop strategic partnership; • Keep the manager informed of changing situations and progress in achieving tasks and respond promptly to requests for information both internally and externally; • Work with Line Manager to develop a culture which addresses the root cause analysis of Engineering related non-conformances. • Work with Line Manager to support peers in the management team to ensure the design needs of the business are met. Personal Specifications: Qualifications & Training: • Degree or equivalent qualification in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering • Ideally Chartered Engineer (IStructE) Experience • Knowledge of the construction industry and offsite manufacture building techniques. • 2 years working with light gauge steel volumetric structures desirable. • 2 years working with design engineers required to carry out all engineering work. • Use of design software such as AutoCAD or 3D modelling tools such as Revit/Inventor desirable. Qualities & Attitude: • Positive, self-motivated and able to work effectively without close supervision • Excellent communications skills, oral and written • Organised with the ability to plan effectively • Skilled in the use of IT equipment and common office products such as the Microsoft Office suite and email Benefits & Salary: DOE - please enquire on application 25 days holiday Pension Death in service Due to current circumstance applicatons will be reviwed at the end of April for this position.
