Job Title: Personal Care Assistant Location: Goring near Worthing Hourly rate: £10.25 Reference: MP6124 Hours/shifts: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. 4pm - 7pm Total - 9 hours per week. Summary Personal Care Assistant Nine year old male Partially sighted and muscle weakness Wheelchair user Very happy and chatty child Assist with muscle strengthening exercises Dressing/undressing/nappy changing required Support at home as well as within the local community Enjoys music, Bollywood, games, cartoons, nursery rhymes, ipad games Applicants must be able to use ipad for games Small amount of tidying and hoovering required Has two sisters, sometimes the 6 year old likes to join in with the games Other Requirements Must have a UK driving licence Must have access to own vehicle All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description To engage and motivate my son. Assist with muscle strengthening exercises Interact with the games and activities my son enjoys - both at home and within the local community. Assist in keeping my sons bedroom clean and tidy. Typical duties Domestic - Bed making General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming in bedroom. Preparing drinks and snacks Personal Care: Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings Changing nappy Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') Physiotherapy exercises Social: Assisting to access social and leisure activities and at times joining in Evening meetings The above duties may involve you driving my son in your own car, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the wheelchair when out. Mileage of 35p per mile will be paid if you are required to use your own car to access the local community. Person specification - The successful applicant will be: Respectful of privacy and confidentiality Reliable with good time-keeping Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills Honest and cheerful with a good ability to motivate Dynamic and creative with the ability to build up a good rapport Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
